Tracking & Reporting
What do the grades and levels mean on my child's report?
For pupils entered at National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher level, the table below explains what the grades entered below mean.
All ungraded courses which operate on a pass/fail basis (such as NPAs), will have a working grade of a 6 or a 7; a 6 means your young person is on track to pass the course and a 7 meaning they are not reaching that standard yet.
Target Grades (TG) and Working Grades (WG)
Target Grades are the Aspirational Target Grade which was set in September by both pupil and teacher during their learning conversation. This is an aspiration that both the pupil and teacher would have for them to achieve in the subject.
Working Grades detail an indication of current work and performance and is based on all evidence gathered to date.
Prelim percentage is written in the comment box. Each subject is made up of different components which means prelim percentages will have a different weighting for each subject. This is outlined here on the school website.
Teachers were also asked to rate effort, behaviour and homework. The ratings for this equate to the statements below:
Explanation of Terms
Effort
The extent to which the pupil is working to the best of his/her ability, i.e.
The pupil is
Progressing in line with expectations
Working hard
Motivated
Participating in the lessons
Coming to lessons fully prepared
Behaviour
The extent to which the pupil behaves in class, is focussed and on task.
Homework
The extent to which homework is completed on a regular basis and to an acceptable level.
