Library

Portlethen Community Library is part of the service provided by Live Life Aberdeenshire and serves the public as well as pupils and staff in school.

The library is open for pupils and staff Tuesday to Friday from 8.35am to 12.50pm and 1.20pm to 4.00pm (3.30pm on Fridays).

The library offers a quieter space for pupils to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere where they can study, find information, borrow books and sit with friends.  We have a ‘no devices’ lunchbreak on Wednesdays when pupils can enjoy colouring, drawing, sensory toys, puzzles and board games.

Our shelves hold over 10,000 books in a mix of fiction and non-fiction to support reading for study, projects, homework and pleasure.  Pupils automatically become library members and, as well as having access to the resources in the library, our digital platform offers access to e-books, e-audiobooks, newspapers and magazines. Search our online school library catalogue or browse our digital library to see what’s available.

Portlethen Academy library website is on GLOW for pupils to access subscribed databases and freely available study resources to support learning.  There are links to book reviews and recommendations and pupils are encouraged to contribute and share their views.
